A project and a series of

performative interventions by

FARIEDA NAZIER & ALBERTA WHITTLE

                               03 - 11.10.2014

Using the body and its appearance as markers of access and identity, performances will function as interventions intended to challenge the “accepted narrative, which insists on an economic and social hierarchy of pilgrimage and aspiration”. The artists’ intervention into this particular narrative interrogates the power and influence, embodied by Sandton City, where unspoken rules govern access to public domains connecting it to the rest of Johannesburg.

Opening Reception & Performance, Friday, 3rd October from 16h30 at ROOM Gallery/Projects, Space #3, 70 Juta Precinct, Braamfontein, Johannesburg

Performance (part 2): Saturday, 4 October 2014 from 10h00 - 16h00
Performance (part 3): Carpet Series Episode # 5: Friday, 10.10.2014, from 16h30
Performance & Closing Party (part 4): Saturday, 11 October 2014 from 10h00 - 16h00

Project Duration: 03 – 11.10.2014
